We ask conference attendees to provide us with certain personal information. We ask questions like “do you have any special access or dietary requirements” to help ensure that we are running a high quality and fully inclusive event. Other information (such as job role, or level of experience) helps us get a better understanding about our audience, which helps us to continually refine and improve our service. We might ask for your t-shirt size so that we can give you a t-shirt which fits!

Anonymised data based on some parts of the information we collect is sometimes used in marketing material. We promise never to share you data with any third parties without your express permission. We will keep your data for 4 years after the conference.

Cookies and how we use them

Most cookies that we use are ‘session’ cookies and only exist for the time that you are using our site.

We also track cookies anonymously to fuel our site analytics and learn how to improve your user experience. We also track cookies to deliver content, including advertisements, relevant to your interests on third-party sites.

We do not track you on any non-The Lead Developer website or communication.

Browser settings and cookies

We also use technology that uses Internet Protocol (IP) information exchanges during the course of normal web activity combined with data-enhancement technology to get detailed analytics information.

Advertising on the web

On The Lead Developer unaffiliated sites, The Lead Developer displays interest-based advertising using the information you make available to us when you interact with our sites, content, or services. Interest-based ads, also sometimes referred to as personalised or targeted ads, are displayed to you based on information from activities such as purchasing on our sites, use of devices, apps or software, visiting sites that contain The Lead Developer content or ads, interacting with The Lead Developer tools or using our payment services.

Like other online ad networks, we use cookies, web beacons (also known as action tags or single-pixel gifs), and other technologies (collectively, “cookies”). Cookies enable us to learn about what ads you see, what ads you click, and other actions you take on our sites and other sites. This allows us to provide you with more useful and relevant ads. We do not associate your interaction with unaffiliated sites with your identity in providing you with interest-based ads. We do not provide any personal information to advertisers or to third party sites that display our interest-based ads.
